Baby, It's Cold Outside
A fitting blog post title, especially as the temperature has dropped in the UK, and for a lot of us there is a forecast of snow, and it’s the 1st of December.
I live on the coast, so it isn’t often my hometown gets snow where it sticks for long, our main concern is the ice of the roads, we have had in the past a couple of white Christmas, and the mountains, and higher up from the coast do get snow yearly. We have the potential for snow over the weekend, so it will be interesting to see if it sticks or not.
It’s hard to believe that it is the 1st of December today, 2023 has flown by, and while it has been a whirlwind of a year for me. I finished book 1 and sent it off to an Alpha Reader/Beta Reader to get feedback and I am currently working on that feedback, and I am close to finishing the draft.
I’ve launched my Ream subscription which I will be starting to share early access to book 1 starting next week.
Outside of book news and my author path, my health took a turn as well. I was signed off work the 1st of February and only returned to work the second week of October. My health condition that was medication managed stopped being managed and had a flare up, which resulted in various health procedures, and as one of the symptoms is vision loss, and my sight started to be affected back in May which resulted in an emergency lumbar puncture to reduce spinal fluid around the brain.
So, in truth, I feel like I have missed a lot of this year, or rather the year happened without me, yet I am also proud that I was able to finish Book 1 and send it off to Alpha and Beta Readers for feedback.
My plans for this month are to focus on finishing the last few chapters with changes based on the feedback I received, start sharing them on my Ream subscription and mostly plan and dream about next year.
2024 is the year I want to publish my debut novel.
It’s a goal I had in mind for a while, though not necessarily with a set date in mind, though I am thinking it will be towards the second half of the year. I also have a prequel novella I want to write and make available to my newsletter subscribers, so that also needs to get done.
Next year is going to be a big year for me, but for now, December is the time for cold weather, hot chocolates, good books and planning for 2024.
Oh and finishing the latest draft of Book 1, I can’t forget that now. 😉
